Celebrating Pride with Style

June 28, 2020 By Traci

pride, pride month, fashion, dvf, wrap dress, thrift

June is the month honoring LBGTQ rights. On June 15th, we made a big step forward with the courts. An employer can no longer discriminate against you for who you love.⁣

On June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court ruled that race and color could no longer dictate who you may love creating Loving Day (named after the couple; yes, their name was Loving!)

It’s Not You, It’s Me.

June 26, 2020 By Traci

When I ask you to wear a mask, it’s not for you, it’s for me. ⁣ This is me a few weeks ago when I had to be tested for COVID. I was sick. I was tired. I was scared. Fortunately, I was negative.⁣⁣Yes, it is America and you still have rights, but please understand…

Honoring Juneteenth

June 26, 2020 By Traci

This is where it happened — Ashton Villa. General Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865, known as Juneteenth ever since. This is Juneteenth.⁣ This is American history, as well as black history. The end of slavery should be everyone’s celebration as no one is free until all are free.⁣ All should…

Eating After 7 PM – Time to Eat

June 16, 2020 By Traci

cooking, diet, health, JoelMarion, #AlwaysEatAfter7PM, #AlwaysEatBook, #BioTrust

I chose this journey for its flexibility and an acceptance of what I could and would do in my real life, not some candy-colored fake life wherein I wear white without stains and never have roots and am IG ready at all times.

Sliding Doors, Revisited

April 21, 2011 By Traci

Back when I was 38 and Growing, I examined my need to play “What If?”, otherwise known as Traci’s Sliding Doors game. This is not the healthiest of games, as I noted but as time has passed, I have begun to play it a little better. It is easy to play “what if?” when you…

The Missing Piece

October 27, 2011 By Traci

acting, lost dreams

Imagine a puzzle box. It jangles when you shake it. You can hear the soft cardboard pieces slide from one side to the other just begging  to be laid out on a table and slowly built into the whole they once were. Piece by piece, nooks and crannies connect and a picture emerges. Smiling faces…

A Letter to My Son

My Son

My son, you will conquer the seas and I look to the day you return to regale me with your triumphs. Those days will come. You cannot see them through the fog, but I am blinded by the gleam of your fortune.

April Showers

rainy days, April showers

My friends at Axis of Ineptitude chose “April Showers” as the prompt today and it couldn’t be more apropos. I am struggling. I don’t always like to admit that but I will today. I am a positive person; always have been. There is always a silver lining, a rainbow with a pot of gold, or…

Inspiring Mom Bloggers

Sometimes life brings people in your life that change you forever. And if you’re lucky, they change you for the better. I have been blessed with many who fit this description. Some have come as family; others as teachers. Many, many have come as friends walking along the same path as I. They help me…
